Minimum 19 years of age in accordance with Florida Statute 943.13.
Citizen of the United States.
Florida state-certified as a law enforcement officer, or certifiable as per FS 943.13.
Possess a valid Florida driver's license.
Good physical condition; eyesight must be correctable to 20/30.
Good moral character with no felony convictions involving moral character, perjury, or false statements as outlined in Florida statutes.
Must be able to meet our very restrictive drug standard.
Successfully complete all phases of the hiring process including polygraph, physical examination, and psychological examination.
Must meet all of the selection standards listed above AND have at least ONE of the following qualifying education or life experiences:
1. You have earned at least an Associates Degree from an accredited college or university; OR
2. You have earned at least 60 semester hours of college credits from an accredited college or university. OR
3. You have received an Honorable Discharge for active duty in one of the armed services, having successfully completed a regular enlistment of at least 3 years without early separation; OR
4. You are currently certified as a Florida Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida, having successfully completed two years of service - not counting academy attendance; OR
5. You are currently certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in another state, the military, or a federal law enforcement agency - meeting all requirements of a CJST Equivalency Of Training (EOT) review, including having successfully completed two years of employment as a full time law enforcement officer - not counting academy attendance.
Note: Although candidates with prior military or law enforcement experience may waive the college credit requirements as described above for entry-level police officer positions, an Associates Degree or 60 credit hours is required for promotion to Sergeant or higher.
