Salary and Benefit Package:
Entry Level Pay Range: (as of October, 2007)
Step 1: $42,760.00 - $65,860.00
Law Enforcement Lateral Pay: (as of October, 2007)
Step 2: $44,898.00 - $65,860.00
Step 3: $47,143.00 - $65,860.00
5% (approximate) step increases each of the first 5 years
Holidays: 13 paid
Vacation: 2 weeks after first year, 3 weeks after 6 years, 4 weeks after 15 years
Shift Differential: 5% afternoons, 7% midnights
Sick Leave: 12 days per year to start, cumulative to 1560 hours total
Pension: 7% contribution by the City; 8% contribution by the employee
Health Insurance: 100% paid for employee
Uniforms, weapons, and equipment: Provided
Retirement: Officers are vested at 10 years. With 20 years of service officers are eligible to retire at any age and collect 55% of the average salary of the highest 5 years of the last 10 years preceding the date of retirement.
State educational incentives:
2-year degree: $30.00 additional monthly
4-year degree: $80.00 additional monthly
